Case Study

Marafiq — Online Training Platform for Facilities Management Professionals

We rebuilt Marafiq's training platform for facilities-management professionals in Saudi Arabia: live Zoom cohorts and recorded courses, quizzes, verifiable certificates, and checkout with cards or Tamara instalments, in Arabic and English. Delivered in about 3.5 months and live since August 2026.

The Problem

Marafiq, a training and consulting company in Riyadh, prepares facilities-management professionals for certifications such as FMP, CFM and CAMA, through live cohorts and recorded courses. Its old platform, built on an off-the-shelf LMS, got in the way: coupons were hidden from buyers, completion certificates needed a manual admin workaround, and the payment options did not match what Saudi learners expect. Marafiq needed a new platform with Arabic first, card and instalment payments, live and recorded teaching in one place, and every existing learner, course and enrolment carried over, so launch would not be a cold start.

Our Solution

After a proposal phase that cut a full-scope plan down to a fixed MVP, we designed each module (foundation, course management, learning, assessments, live sessions, commerce, certificates and migration) in its own technical design document, then built them on Laravel 13 with an Inertia and React 19 front end and a Filament admin panel. Checkout uses Stripe Elements for cards and Tamara for buy-now-pay-later, and course access is granted only when the payment webhook confirms. Live sessions run on Zoom and recorded lessons on Vimeo. Quizzes use a server-side timer with auto-grading, and certificates are issued automatically on completion as PDFs with a serial number and a QR code that opens a public verification page. A re-runnable import moved users, courses, enrolments and progress from the old platform before switch-over.

The Impact

Live at marafiq.pro since August 2026, with learners enrolling and paying online by card and Tamara instalments

1,700+ learner accounts, including everyone migrated from the old platform, and 25 published courses

300+ active enrolments across live cohorts and recorded courses

MVP delivered on the agreed scope in about 3.5 months, from first commit to launch

Certificates issued automatically on completion, each verifiable through its QR code

About 940 automated tests run on every change

Key Features

Course catalogue with search and filters by category, level, language and duration

Course builder with sections, lessons, quizzes and live sessions; one quiz or session can be shared across several courses

Live cohorts on Zoom: join links only for enrolled learners, plus recording links after the session

Recorded lessons hosted on Vimeo, and course PDFs watermarked with the Marafiq logo and a no-sharing notice

Quizzes and exams with a server-side timer, auto-submit and automatic grading

Completion certificates as PDFs with a serial number, a QR code and a public verification page

Cart, coupons and sale prices shown openly on listing, course, cart and checkout pages

Payments by card (Stripe) or Tamara instalments, with access granted on webhook confirmation

Manual and offline enrolments recorded in the same sales reports as online orders

Arabic and English with right-to-left layout

Import of users, courses, enrolments and progress from the old platform

Challenges

Moving every learner and enrolment off the old platform without a cold start

Two payment flows with different lifecycles: card payments and Tamara's authorise-and-capture

Live sessions and quizzes shared between courses without opening access to the wrong learners

Certificates that must be issued on completion alone, never blocked by exam logic

Lessons Learned

Write a design document per module before building; it keeps a fixed-price MVP on scope

Grant access only from the payment provider's confirmed webhook, never from the browser redirect

Make imports idempotent so a migration can be rehearsed many times before switch-over

Show discounts where buyers decide, not only at checkout
